- What Is Sparrows Nest?
In a word, LOTS! Basically, we identify gaps that need to be filled, develop strategies to meet those needs, and call on the faith community to step forward and minister to their neighbors. For specific information, go to the "What We Do" section on this website.
Melissa Stroud is our Volunteer Coordinator. You can reach her at firstname.lastname@example.org or call our office to talk to any staff member at 912.261.8512.
Our 2010 Income/Expense Report is listed under the Financial Section. You may designate your gift to any specific ministry and 100% of that gift will be used for that particular ministry, or you may simply donate to FaithWorks and your gift will be used where it is most needed at that time.
We also accept gifts of non-perishable food items, toiletries, furniture, automobiles, and more. We do not accept clothing.
What if God is calling me to do something in the community??
Call or email Wright Culpepper (email@example.com). We may be doing something or working on developing something that will help you answer that call. People share ideas with us all the time, and when we have 2 or 3 people sharing the same idea with us, we try to get them together to talk about how we can work together.
Additionally, there are many fine ministries and organizations in the community doing wonderful work. If we are not doing what you want to do, we will connect you to someone who is.
What Is Sparrows Nest?
Sparrows Nest is a clearing house for about 30 churches who wish to help those in crisis in our community. Most of those who get financial help from us are referred to us from local churches or organizations. For those seeking financial assistance, they must provide a bill, ID, and proof that something has happened recently (hospitalization, death, accident, etc.) that has disrupted their normal cash flow. For those seeking a bus ticket, we go to great lengths to find family, employers, or service organizations in the community that they wish to travel to before we purchase a ticket.
We also maintain a food pantry to assist with food needs.
Sparrows Nest is open from 9 until Noon Monday through Thursday and assists about 15 families each day.
